In collaboration with TMDSAS and TAAHP, we've developed a handbook to help assist pre-health professions advisors share resources with aspiring health professionals.
Professional Organizations
The health professions advisor is integral to the admissions and exploration process for applicants interested in pursuing a career in health professions. The Texas Health Education Service aims to serve as a resource to support advisors in their mission to support and guide applicants through the development of advising resources, partnership with:
- National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP)
- Southeastern Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (SAAHP)
- Texas Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (TAAHP)
Texas Association for Advisors for the Health Professions
About TAAHPTAAHP connects Texas health professions advisors to each other and to the professional schools that our students seek to enter.
The Texas Association for Advisors of Health Professions brings together advisors statewide to improve advising for students entering health professions.
At the annual TAAHP conference, advisors and schools learn from each other to improve the training of Texas undergraduates to enter health professions schools.
National Association for Advisors for the Health Professions
About NAAHPThe National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions serves as a resource for the professional development of health professions advisors.
It is a representative voice with health professions schools and their professional associations, undergraduate institutions, and other health professions organizations. The Association promotes high standards for health professions advising at universities and colleges. It assists advisors in fostering the intellectual, personal, and humanistic development of students as they prepare for careers in health professions.
Southeastern Association of Advisors for the Health Professions
About SAAHPThe Southeastern Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (SAAHP) is comprised of colleges and universities in the Southeastern U.S. concerned with the preparation of students for further study in a wide variety of health-related professions, including allopathic and osteopathic medicine, dentistry, optometry, podiatry, physician assistants, nursing, pharmacy, medical technology, chiropractic, and others. Together with three other regional organizations they comprise the National Association of Advisors for the Health Professions (NAAHP).
